Futuristic fantasy - August 18, 2006
TAKE a step into the future at Warrina Cineplex next week.
The Cinema Group will screen the 1995 Japanese animation, Ghost in the Shell and its 2004 sequel, Ghost in the Shell 2: Innocence.
In Ghost in the Shell, the year is 2029. The world has become intensively in-formation-oriented and humans are well connected to the network.
Crime has developed into a sophisticated stage by hacking into the interac-tive network.
To prevent this, Section Nine is formed -- made up of cyborgs with incredible strengths and abilities that can access any network on earth.
A female cyborg cop and her partner hunt a mysterious and powerful hacker called the Puppet Master.
Ghost in the Shell 2: Innocence, is set in the year 2032.
Bato, a cyborg detective for the anti-terrorist unit Public Security Section nine, investigates the case of a female robot, created solely for sexual pleas-ure, who slaughtered her owner.
Bato is a living cyborg. His whole body, even his arms and legs, are entirely man-made.
What remains are traces of his brain and the memories of a woman.
>> Ghost in the Shell and Ghost in the Shell: Innocence, both rated M, will be screened at the Warrina Cineplex on Thursday, August 25, from 7.15pm. Entry is $11 for non-members.
