Splashpage.mtv.com reports: How do you up the ante when you already have three of the hottest directors on the planet locked, loaded and ready for your film? In the case of “Heavy Metal,” you bring aboard yet another fan-favorite filmmaker and a world-famous musician-actor hybrid.

“Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles” co-creator Kevin Eastman, also the owner and publisher of “Heavy Metal” magazine, has announced that “Avatar” director James Cameron and Tenacious D rocker Jack Black are joining the ranks of “Heavy Metal,” the multi-directorial comic book adaptation from the likes of Zack Snyder, Gore Verbinski and David Fincher (who will also serve as an executive producer).

“I’ve got breaking news that Fincher and James Cameron are going to be Co-Executive Producers on the film,” Eastman told Film School Rejects. “Fincher will direct one [segment]. Cameron will direct one. Zack Snyder is going to direct one and Gore Verbinski is going to. ['Kung Fu Panda' director] Mark Osborne and Jack Black from Tenacious D are going to do a comedy segment for the film.”

Fincher has previously stated his excitement about the project, and “Watchmen” director Snyder has also expressed enthusiasm for the movie. And we’re pretty sure if you weren’t feeling the groove yet, the involvement of Cameron and Black — one of the world’s most accomplished action directors and a filthy-mouthed rock musician, respectively — should certainly pique your interest.

But in case you’re still not sold, Eastman apparently has a few other tricks up his sleeve that he’s not quite ready to reveal.

“Three other directors have agreed but we haven’t signed them yet, but they’re equally as jaw-dropping [as Cameron],” he said. “So we’re on cloud nine to be working with such an amazing amount of talent.”
