my hobby is drawing anime charcters off of the novels. anybody else love to draw?

The only thing is that the 2 books I have only show how to draw 2 basic faces a boy & girl... but to me they look very similar. It doesn't show how to make any kind of modifications to change this basic face & I'm not that good at looking at a manga and getting ideas from that.
