Death Note pilot manga

has anyone read the Death Note pilot manga? its in the how to read volume 13 thing. The main character's name is Taro Kagami and Ryuk looks well.... different haha, his face is a little off. I just thought it was cool how it went from that to the Death note we all know (and hopefully love) Anyone else have any thoughts or oppinions on it?
