Which one of the three geniuses in Death Note do you think is the smartest?1. L2. Light3. Near Which one of the shinigami is the scariest?1. Ryuk2. Rem I would say Near & Ryuk

If you picked Near to be the smartest because he defeated Light, then I think its not true to think that. Remember that Mikami screwed up, not necessarily Light. Mikami made one mistake that screwed Light over. But anyway; I think L is the smartest because he came up with the most and knew right off the bat whom Kira was. He had a hard time figuring out things from nothing, but he did figure out things from nothing. Near and Mello are literaly both half and half of L. One could not figure out as much as they did without eachother. Though I am sure that Near in the 'future' is much smarter and more like L then. Light had the upper hand against L the whole time. Light screwed up a number of times unlike L, so if they started at the same 'level' I guess L would win for sure. Scariest is Ryuk. At least Rem seems like she has feelings. Ryuk is doing things for fun which makes him scarier. I would love to have Rem like me... she sacraficed herself for Misa so I dont think she's scary at all. But these are my opinions. I am interested to hear what everyone else thinks!

i agree... between ryuk and rem i'd pick ryuk... same reasons as Zabby... ryuk well pretty much did things for the heck of it... main reason why light got the deathnote anyway... but rem, rem is different anyone can see how deeply and how hard she tried to protect misa... that's the different between those two... so ryuk it is...as for who's the smartest i'd go for L... i dunno about near coz i haven't seen him in action (i stopped watching the anime when L died... lol) so can't compare him... but between light and L... for me it's definitely L... ^_^~Crescent"...beneath the truth lies a lie and behind lies hides the truth..."

Even though you stopped watching after L died, you did not miss much. Even though it's not really true L and Near look and act just like twin brothers. There are only three small differences between them. Take L make him a little bit younger, a little bit shorter, and change his hair from black to white and you get Near.

You could say Near, becasue before any of that happen and with out knowing who the new L is he asked if L ever thought that light was Kira. But you could say L becasue Near learned everything he knows from L. They are so much a like they are like twin brothers. They even look and act the same way.

Since Light thought there was no more compition, he acted as L. Near knew the new L was probably Kira because he was more known. To L it was a needle in a hey stack. Near and L look the same, but there are differences. Near is not the type to take big risks with other people (Unlike L whom usually did things on his own.) and he does not have the fondness of sweets (Unlike L whom at them all the time). But he did have all the 'luxuries' of money like L and he also had the stacking and fiddling thing while he was thinking like L. Mello was the other half of L who liked the sweets (His was Chocolate though) and Mello did things that were very risky like L. Neither could match up to L, but both together had 1 in the same 'smartness? LOL' as L. So that is one of the reasons why L is the smartest. But I do believe that Near has the capability (From what I saw in the extra chapter of the manga) he has what it takes to become L. LOL! Just wanted to point it out, I dont mean anything bad by this.
