Wow, you really want people
Wow, you really want people on here to argue, huh? I think this is a hard question for those of us who aren't new to anime. If you've only seen two or three series, it's really easy to have a favorite. I'm surprised you didn't have a bunch of newbies proclaiming Naruto as the greatest of all time. Now for those of us who have seen a lot of anime this get's tricky. I'll use my dvd library as an example. If all I had was Inuyasha, Fullmetal Alchemist and Ghost In The Shell, that would be an easy choice, even though all three are very good. Here is where the problem lies. My collection is well over 400 dvds, with over 100 indiviual series among them. ( I am counting box sets as 1 dvd.) Not to mention the series that I have watched online. All told, I would say that I've watched around 150 different series. It gets kinda hard to pick what one I hold higher than any other. People fear the strange and unusual. I AM the strange and unusual.

I have only been into anime for a couple of years but have seen dozens of good series. I could no sooner pick a favorite star among the heavens, than a favrite anime. It may be easier to decide a favorite type of anime say a scifi anime of a conedy anime or an action anime it might be a little simpler, but still not an easier decision. I have to agree with the both of you. i've seen well over 30 defferent animes and thats not includeing the new ones or the ones i watch online. when you seen that many, you cant really pick just one.but, like you siad DaisyMae, if it was what type of anime that would be a lot defferent and easier.

but...HE said "the best anime" - BEST over than a GOOD and BETTER { become the best of all the best }.Maybe HE means to be more specific.Although it is hard to pick one but we have to choose one either we like or not.I`ve seen a different animes too but we have choose the best of all.Hmn...let me think for a while which is the best anime i had watched^^ ^_^ Addow DBZ is great too.It is one of my collection^^ "past is passed and let the past passed away"
but "Best" is subjective
he said best anime, but how are you going to put one over another, i mean i could have said that Bleach is the best but the that would be a dishonor to all the other animes that are great. Concrete guidelines are needed for me to pick a "best" anime. "We stand in awe before that which cannot be seen"

I think so...
I think it is. However, to be technical an anime is a Japanese animated show, where Samurai Jack was a US produced show. That being said, it has an anime influence, so it is an anime in my book.

It is just plain difficult to pick only one... I don't know what one is the best of the best... There are so many out there that i really like...Vampire Knight, Code Geass, Bleach, Death Note *sighs*It would be easier if we could choose a genre of anime... Well if i have a say in the matter..... I'll have to take some serious heat for what iam about to say..... A good anime/movie/story etc. etchas to have the basics and since we are talking anime in any ordergood visual quality IE the characters are not to cartoonish...A constant storyline throughout the series..... meaning that you can have a whole different heap of episodes but the underlying themesmust be maintained.... and the ending unless it is a seasonal seriesonce it ends and there is no hope for a second season end it leaving no questionsunanswered except unless you have a second season where the suspense at the end makes it brilliantAnd even though the ending of the series was a movie there is one particularanime series that has fulfilled all these criteria.... And that is the Full Metal Alchemistand also there is one series that fulfilled the standards of the series with no movie ending and that one isSamurai 7.... The path to conquest leaves nothing else to be desired!!!!

gundam is one of the best but out of all of gundam the best one's are gundam wing gundam seed and gundam oo they are the best.
