Any fans out there? I heard they released a new OVA recently, which is kind of a copy of the movie version they did in 1997? 1998?

Hey guys I had a thought, i know that's always a scary prospect. a lot of people are confused about the meaning of this series, but i think its all about being excepted by yourself and by others the way you are. that's just the opinion of a girl who watches far too much anime.

basically heres the gist of the series (possible spoilers)
On wikipedia it said that in one of the games they have this (so might be cannonical or not) There was god who created a 1st race who would seed the universe w/ black moons and white moons. One creates angels and the other humans (or lilim). Also the lance of lognius travels with them to control them. On Earth both moons landed causing 1st impact.
This is stuff we know about the series: In 1947 man discovered the dead sea scrolls and the secret organization seele kept some of them secret. In them there are prophecies leading to 2nd impact which man engineers at the start of the new millennium. Either man or the angels will survive. For man to survive they use bio-engineered mechs spawned from the angels called Evangelions. These can destroy the angels. man then can either choose to live as individuals or let down their A-T fields and be reduced to the primordial ooze called LCL. This is the goal of seele and the leader of nerv, Gendo Ikari, aspirations (although for different reasons). Ultimately 3rd impact happens but the embodiments of lilith and adam, rei and kaworu, leave the decision to Gendo's son Shinji who at first chooses to go along with human instrumentality but then chooses to retain his individuality. Him and fellow eva pilot Asuka Langley Soryu are the first to rematerialize. I choose to intrepret her final line as she has morning sickness. Neon Genesis...new beginning, it fits.
So this fits in with the idea of acceptance. Evangelion is taken from the greek Euaggelion which means the good news as heralded by angels. This is greek because the bible was translated first into greek and was called the septuagint (translated by 70 rabbis).
It bored me at first....

the end movie was kinda wierd but awesome. i can't wait for the rebuild of evangelion films, maybe the ending will be clearer this time around.

ya there are some things u don't catch if u don't know what to look out for. like in the end of eva shinjis eva has the fire around it. this symbolizes seraphim. they're angels in christianity linked to fire. in hellboy as in hell as on earth by i think chris golden, the seraphim are like heavens shocktroops who use heavenly fire to cleanse.

Eva is awsome and is probably the best ever series about mecha. I got the platinum series when i was in the states, ive seen it 3 times!!!!!! The OAVs arent great, they leave alot out, but a live action film is in pre-production.
Rei is my fave.

One of my favorites.
One of my favorites. Evangelion is a timeless classic. Which reminds me, I need to pick up the Death & Rebirth movie set to finsh my collection. I have everything else.
