Has anyone learned to speak or read Japanese? ^__^ I always wanted to but, it's so hard to learn. Even trying to sing some of my favorite anime songs is harder. :( Has anyone done that before?

Re: The Japanese Language
Ohayou! I am going to be taking a Japanese class at Mira Costa College in Oceanside CA that starts on august 25th. My daughter is also going to be taking it...we're looking forward to learning the language. My brother-in-law was stationed in Japan when he was in the Navy and he has taught me a few words. I also have found several on-line translators that I have used and a website that has a lot of the basic words & phrases that are used. I must agree that I do have a hard time singing along with some of my favorite anime songs, but it is fun to try and I'm now starting to recognize a lot of the words. What really helps is when the shows have the words ib both romanji and english subs like karoke *grinning* at least then I can see what the letters arewhich makes it a little easier to "sing along". Dewa Mata,Niji-Hana (dewa mata = see you later) (ohayou - good morning)

Depends!!!!!!!
I would have to say that speaking is WAY easier than reading japanese! Im no pro but I can speak and understand it farly well. Theres different ways on learning it, you just need to find a method that suits you! Take me for example,I am a full blooded mexican teen. And i only have 2 yrs experience with learning japanese and i didnt practice. So yeah it depends!!!!!

I've been studying Japanese
I've been studying Japanese in college for 3 years and lived in Japan for 1 year. During the first semester, there were around 90 students, and during the sixth semester only 4 students were still left. I guess most of the students felt that learning Japanese is not worth the effort, but I don’t agree. During my studies I had many great experiences and I had some of the best time of my life in Japan.
