Honestly, I've always loved Tokyopop, just like I've always loved Borders. Shame to see them going out of business for the most part. The industry is pretty self-regulating or whatever you wanna call it, but those two companies were a huge part of it when at their prime. The internet's putting a LOT of media and retail companies out of commission unfortunately. The internet is useful and all, but industry fluctuation to new mediums is always painful when the world is transitioning.

Just received some good news, in anime corner store's latest newsletter they say that: About Manga is reporting that (per TokyoPop's facebook page) all of former TokyoPop's international manga licenses will immediately revert back to their original owners, rather than being held by the company's remaining media division until the contracts expire. Probably because they have told the license holders that no further royalty payments will be forthcoming for those series.

This will, at the very least, give other interested publishers the opportunity to pickup series formerly published by TokyoPop without having to wait for TP's licenses to expire.
