recommendations for a noob

i'm new to manga, having mainly been a vertigo, dc and 2000ad reader/buyer. I have just bought vols: 1-10 of Deathnote, and ist volumes of Saturn's appartment, 20th century boys, pluto, black cat. Only read Buddha before and just flew through volume 1 of 20th century boys. What i'm after are recomendations and why?, particyularly new stuff thats i can/could follow from the start rather than get aa backlog of stuff to read. Hellsing and Trigun are
Hellsing and Trigun are shorter series (Hellsing 10, Trigun 2, Trigun Maximum 14). All the volumes are out and they have lots of action and are pretty funny. They also have anime adaptations. Rurouni Kenshin is an awesome series set during the Meiji Restoration of the Emperor in Japan. It is 28 Volumes but now you can buy books with more then one volume in it. Bleach is an awesome series, I only have the first 7 volumes for it. If you haven't seen it, Adult Swim is currently playing the earlier seasons or you can check it out on vizanime.com. I got into it because of the music and characters. You could use the manga to complement the anime to see what is changed (but the same can be said of any series).

if you like mind effery, then you should read future diary. it's consist of people trying to kill each other in order to become god. another series i recommend you read is battle royale. a manga of survival of the fittest amongst friends and peers. a fun series i'm currently into is zombie loan. the story revolves around 3 characters in debt: a girl who can see rings of death and 2 undead guys killing zombies for cash. a funny series is GTO. it's about a guy who becomes a teacher for all the wrong reasons, but he affect each of his students' lives in a positive way. and the last recommended series for you is id_entity. if you play mmorpgs, then you will love this.

it is long and cool. start with macross, go to masters, then to new generation and finaly tsc.
