i was in b&n today, i might get them eventually but you should try neon genensis evangelion:raising shinji ikari project. it takes place in the alternate universe showed in episode 25 or 26 (i think angelic days also did this). i also saw knightmare of nunally which is a code geass. alot of people on this site recommend it and apparently it is like the only alt. code geass worth getting.

Berserk is your manga. Given, in the first 3 and a half volumes you might just look at it as a beat-em-up manga, but it gets very deep, emotional, and very interesting. Its a horror/scifi manga that is very gorey and has language and nudity so its not for young readers, but its also my all time favorite manga and you should definently collect them, if your willing to pay around 14 dollars a peice for them... Dark Horse publishes them here... so it might explain why they priced it so high... =(Interesting fact: Berserk began in 1989, and new chapters are still being made today. It has 33 Volumes in japan currently, but new chapters wont be out for another month I think. (I need to check)

Bleach, d. gray-man, rosario+vampire, ruroni kenshin, wild ones, vampire knight, dance in the vampire bund, and i found an interesting one from a few years ago called tenshi la nai.    all of them have good plots and characters, some are shonen and some are shojo.  "Long is the way, and hard that out of hell leads to light."

here's another one is nora the last chronicle of devildom. it's a real good one i like it alot and it's one of the best shonen jump manga that's out there and anpther good one is rosario+vampire that's a realy good one as well.

I reccomend vampire knight, death note, bleach, naruto ,fma aka fullmetal alchemist There is so many but those ones i like the best :)

i agree that a great story is every thing wen it come's to makeing a manga it is every thing.
