So, which is it people? Both are masterminds, both outwit just about everyone, both want the best for the world, and both are in almost the same situation in life. Mystical being shows up, they get new powers and so help the world in their own ways!

Actually,
I would love Lelouch and L go at it too. Between the two is nearly impossible to pick. If I had to put my money on it I would say Lelouch for the fact that he has a little bit more of an un-selfish reason to win and less on an ego. (Well, I guess what I am saying is that I would rather have Lelouch win other than Light... since I really have no idea...)

I agree with you there murasametal. That would be one chaotic war. And L and Lelouch going up against each other would be interesting, too. Although, unlike Light, Lelouch might actually tell L what was going on. I mean c'mon, he let Jeremiah know for crying out loud!

Hmmm I would say that while I like both Light really goes nuts in the end I mean he caused his father to die, and Rem too. Now I haven't seen all of Code Geass but Lelouch seems to have higher morals than Light does. Love... is just a different kind of pain.

Well, I'm sure. The way I understood it was that when humans died, their souls went to the shinigamia and prolonged their lives. So I don't get how there was a ghost...and are you sure she died in the manga and in the anime?

but as someone pointed out Lelouch's plan worked anf Light's didn't... so I have to vote for Lelouch too, I think I have already anyways, although if Light had succeeded in his goal I think I would vote for him instead.

That might be interesting.
That might be interesting. Both have secret idenities, so Light can't use a death note to kill Zero. However, Zero can use his geass to order Light to kill himself if he is within range (I forget if someone is watching television and he broadcasts, if the geass works). So potentially neither would have to be on the battlefield.
