On the auctions that I read it took at least two weeks or more. In part because you win the auction, send them your measurements, and they make the outfit then send it to you. And they are located in China.

did once as Rei from Evangelion. Bought myself a blue wig and managed to mail order the custome as well didn't repeat it again as my classmates recognise me in convention and got caught my teachers... who didn't know a thing about cosplay and decided it is not a recommended hobby

I worked haunted houses for a little while. I used to do all of my makeup with the "professionals", who would then get pissed that people liked my makeup better. I used to do the whole deal, prosthetics and all, but it is REALLY time consuming. I did a prosthetic for halloween while I was in high school. My principal said I didn't look very scary, then he passed out when I ripped my throat out, as did half of the class in the cafeteria that day.
