" Death Note " Anime series
Hi everyone...my fellow manga lovers. Joseph Von Bludd here. Does anyone watch " Death Note " ? I discovered it late night on Saturdays here in the Northeast ( Boston ) . I find it fascinating and I love and also relate and identify with the character Eluzaki ( I hope I spelled that right ) the plot at the moment is very contradictory. The main character I am not sure of his name I am still familiarizing myself with the cast is both chivilrous and diabolical. I watched last week and now there is a plot to kill Eluzaki and i'm cringing. I also don't understand the whole shinugami idea yet they are sort of Japanese demon gargoyles. Yet I guess it all boils down to the common sense notion we all have good and evil in us all. Anyone who would like to talk and perhaps make a friend which are precious and few these days I am open. We can talk on any subject of anime from the art to plot or the whole fantasy of it . I welcome all.... yours truly,J. Von Bludd

Death Note is great. The
Death Note is great. The main character's name is Light. Light is not chivilrous he just wants to make the word a better place. He kills criminals and anyone who gets too close to finding out about him or the death note or the shekegome. (I think I spelled that right.)

From what I've seen, Adultswim.com has all of the episodes on there to watch. You definitley need to watch it from the beginning to fully understand the plot line, but it is great.
Death Note kicks ass!
It's true that Adultswim plays Death Note on its' site and on its channel... but honestly the voice actors for the English version are just horrid. It sounds so much better in its original Japanese state. Like they made Light sound like a little screwed up kid and they made Lawliet sound so.... unsexy ;_; Watching it with the subs is your best bet. I was watching it off of another site. It has all the complete episodes in Japanese... with subs!!! But all of this is just imo.

I completely understand. I often watch the subbed versions from Japan and notice all of the differences, not just in the voices, but in the dialogue and character relations as well. A lot of stuff gets "cleaned up" for us here in the US because of what is considered "acceptable".

I hadn't noticed it either until my wife showed me. The example she showed me was in Sailor Moon, one of the "female" bad guys shown here in the US was actually a gay bad guy who had a crush on the good guy.

yeah hes right, ive seen only a couple of times when theyve done that but he is right about how whoever Dubs the english and all that, "cleaning it up" for us Americans T.T i hated the american naruto cuz it seemed really kinda childish to me then when i saw tha japanese version i for the most part liked it.

Death Note is brilliant. It's probably my favorite anime right now. Have you been watching it from the start? If not, you probably should catch up. I can see where jumping in at the current ep on [AS] could be very confusing. Shinigami are death gods. From a certain point of view they're similar to Death or The Grim Reaper to Americans. In the start of the series, Light came across Ryuk's Death Note, and once he dicovered its capabilities, that's when he decided he would use it to make the world a better place by his own vision. L (Ryuzaki) was an already well-known & respected, yet very discrete and secretive detective. He was onto the Kira (Light) case from the beginning. There's really far too much you've missed out on if you're just now watching. One place I know of is deathnote.tvYou can watch streaming subs there to catch up, and possibly adultswim.com. Although, I'm not sure how many eps AS keeps on their site.

I don't watch it, I read it.Deathnote was one of my favorite new mangas and L was my favorite character from any manga I'd ever read. I was so disappointed with volume 7 that I just skimmed the rest of the series. I won't say what happened in volume 7 because it might be a spoiler for someone but if anyone here read it, they should know what I mean. Anyways, great series, this topic brings back memories. *sigh*

NeAr2.0WHAT YOUR F%^&ING KIDDING ME RIGHT YOU SKIMMED THROUGH YOU DO KNOW THAT LS DEATH GETS AVENGED BY NEAR BECAUSE HE PROVES THAT LIGHT IS KIRA.F%^&.you should have finished the series even after what happened to L because deathnote is awesome.I know you skimmed but you could gotten through the series im still upset about L but i got through the series except for the last episode which i watched when i was on episode33 so I already know what happens to light.

Well Ricki, how ya doing? I do believe that scenario was already discussed in Deathnote, Light could ask Ryuk to find out L's real name, but Ryuk doesn't have to do what Light says. Light could ask him to do something, but Ryuk isn't obligated to help him in any way.

Shinigami's
The shinigami deal is this. The shinigami are from their own realm, The Shinigami Realm (creative i know) and have things called Death notes they have aquired from the Shinigami God. Ryuk accidentally dropped one of his Death notes ( he has two, he tricked the Shinigami god into giving him another) into the human realm where Light Yagami finds it and starts using it to rid the world of Criminals. The rest you should be able to figure out ^.^ I just saw the Live action deathnote film last week, was a two day event i found out about through Fathomevents.com and i went to see it wondering if it would be wierd or really cool. it turned out to be better than that =D i suggest getting the japanese version with english subtitles.

NeAr2.0 what happens when they die because my sister told me that in the live action movie that ryuk said if you use the deathnote you will not have an afterlife how is that possible if shinigami cant mate the they cant reproduce so when light dies does he become a shinigami or not? if not why? i mean what if all the shinigami die off does that mean that if that happens there will never be any shinigami ever again?
