The third and final installment of lord of the rings was a very, very, very, long movie to watch.

I like the books
the movies were good, booth the theatrical and the extended, but the books were so much better. i guess reading the books first than seeing the movies makes me more partial to the books. my fav character is strider/aragon. "Someone once told me you can't put a price on human life, although when push comes to shove the price suddenly becomes negotiable"
I've read the Simmarillion,
I've read the Simmarillion, Children of Hurin, Hobbit, Fellowship of the Ring, Two Towers, Return of the King. I guess my fav character would have to be Gandalf or maybe Smaug the dragon.

thats kind of pathetic I mean for god sake its time to let the series die in my opinion... though I must say I'm kind glad they didn't do the Hobbit cause its my fav book in the series.Love... is just a different kind of pain.

Lord of the Rings
I will say this only one time. The movies were WAY better than the books. The books just went on and on and on...while the movies got straight to the point. Great Trilogy, but they should call it quits instead of trying to re-make The Hobbit. It was better as an animated film. Besides, I don't think they'd be able to do it justice. Once you make the continuations of the movie series, you can't go back and re-do the first in the set. It just doesn't work out...and ends up wasting a LOT of money in the process. And as a final, parting set of words... HOBBITS RULE!!!

I loved the books in fact I read them all twice, they have a great plot, amazing characters, and they proceed quite nicely in my opinion I was never bored reading them. That said I do like the movies, however I think that I can count on one hand how many times I've watched them... I mean it. Anyway I found that the movies often had huge gaps in them, the pacing often left me yawning, they changed key things, cut out parts that really showed the characters personalities, I dunno I just didn't find them overly amazing. my fav chacters are Gimli and Legolas especially when they are together the dynamics between them is really good,Gandalf, and my other fav is Bilbo but more for the Hobbit.
